| ALONI |
| "I thought to myself, the spirit alone cannot contain the art and will not create the tools with which I create my work. The material is what art is made of, the material upon which I paint and in which I sculpt, and sometimes it is the inspiration for the result itself. Without materials, I cannot put what I want to create on the easel." Yaacov Aloni was born on a Kibbutz in Israel in 1939. From 1969 to 2006 he lived in Jerusalem. He now resides in Venice, CA. and is an active member of the Venice art community. He is a sculptor, painter, photographer, craftsman, and etcher. His large scale sculptures are public art monuments combining steel, concrete and stone. He has also been a teacher of art history, painting and drawing. His sculptures may be seen at the Holocaust Museum and National Military Cemetery in Jerusalem to a decorative stone wall at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Building. His list of exhibitions is worldwide, from Israel, Czechlosavakia, Switzerland, Italy, to Florida, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, California and galleries in-between. His work has been reproduced as giclees and serigraphs. |
