DANIEL ALONZO

DANIEL ALONZO
Daniel Alonzo is an artist whose works capture the natural beauty and feeling of his native Santa Monica. Alonzo's paintings mostly depict the landscapes and seascapes of Santa Monica. His art career started at a young age having won the design competition for the Official Californi American Revolution Bicentennial Medallion of his senior year at Santa Monica High School.

In the spring of 1982 he began his most recognized work, "Whale of a Mural" located on Fourth Street and Ocean Park Boulevard. Alonzo personally funded this mural that took fifteen months to complete. In 1994, he began the series of paintings that now make up the subject matter of his most recent body of works entitled Santa Monica Landscapes and Neighboring Areas.

The Art Deco Sea Castle was Alonzo's home and a source of inspiration for the decade that he lived and painted there, from August 1983 until the building was destroyed in by the Northridge Earthquake of 1994. After losing his home on Santa Monica's beach he was inspired by what still remains the theme of most of his work. Alonzo has had numerous shows throughout Los Angeles.
