LINDA WINTERS

LINDA WINTERS
Linda Winters grew up on a Pennsylvania Dutch farmhouse, in the rolling hills of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She lived next door to several internationally famous artists and writers. She started drawing, carving in stone and etching on metal plates from a very young age as an apprentice in local studios. Winters incorporates her love of organic subjects and nature, with the fine art process of monoprinting. Her Monoprints are inspired by her vivid memories of the beautiful surroundings of her childhood. She uses leaves and peacock feathers as her main subject and motif. These elements become background surfaces to print on, as well as the subject of much of her work, and the actual tools used for painting. She physically paints with the feathers for a multi textured feel, and layers the leaves for rich and depth filled pieces.

Linda Winters has shown her paintings, drawings and monoprints at galleries in New York;  Florence Italy, and Los Angeles. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University and has completed post graduate work in Fine Arts and Editorial  Illustration at the School of Visual Arts /MFA Visual Journalism Program.
