ROE ANNE WHITE

Roe Anne White
The beauty of abstractions hidden in nature, human affection in a spontaneous moment and the elegance of well designed architecture are what inspire Roe Anne White’s photography.

Roe Anne began her career as a portrait photographer, primarily focusing on children. Over the years, the scope of her work expanded to include portraits of properties, moments in time, and elements in nature. Her current work is increasingly abstract, more about form and light, contemplation and calm. Roe Anne prefers using long lenses to create a shallow depth of field, placing the emphasis on the subject and creating a meditative focus. Her prints are made with minimal manipulation, true to the color and shapes she photographs. With her fine art work, she creates simple images that radiate a sense of peace.

Roe Anne’s photography has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions since 1985. In 2008, she was part of a four-person exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art/Art Rental and Sales Gallery. Her portrait of the Santa Barbara Mission, “From the Center,” received the Judges Award at the Architectural Foundation’s exhibit, Architectural Gems of Santa Barbara in 2004. She was also the recipient of a Profant Foundation for the Arts grant in 2007. Roe Anne’s work is in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad.

A native of California, Roe Anne received her B.A. from the University of Southern California. She lives and works in Santa Barbara.
